The big question I want to answer today is this.

“Is God Tolerant?”

All around America, and I’m sure many other countries as well, the LGBTQ crowd, especially the transgenders, want Christians to stop condemning their actions and choices. They want us to stop saying that they’re wrong. They want us to stop saying that God calls that sinful, and just let them live their lives the way they want to. If we’re being completely honest, many or most of them want us to approve of their choices. They want us to discard what the Bible says, or rephrase what the Bible says so that their actions and choices are no longer sinful.

Certainly, we cannot expect the unsaved world to hold themselves to the same higher standards that we Christians do, but we cannot lower our guard on the fight against sinful acts and choices. We make the choice, as Jesus Christ did, to love the sinner but hate the sin. A lot easier said than done.

There are many people, even professing Christian preachers, who have twisted scripture and perverted it to say things like I heard earlier this week, “Drag is Holy”. If you’re not sure what drag is, it’s men dressing as women and parading around quite proudly about the assumed femininity. It’s disturbing and disgraceful and no Christian should ever be involved in it in the slightest. Deuteronomy 22 talks about this directly in verse 5 of the chapter.

“A woman shall not wear man’s clothings, nor shall a man put on a woman’s clothing; for whoever does these things is an abomination to the LORD your God.”  —  Deuteronomy 22:5 NASB

Well, what about those that are just private about how gay they act? They don’t parade it around. They just do it in secret. What about them? God talks about them too, in Leviticus.

“You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination.”  — Leviticus 18:23 NASB

“If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death.”  —  Leviticus 20:13 NASB

Thankfully, God is not as strict with the death penalty today as He was in the days of Moses. Today’s world knows God’s grace and mercy far better than before the death and resurrection. But the truth still remains that God sees these things as sinful. Leviticus 18, 19, and 20 talk extensively and in good detail about what is moral and what is not. Deuteronomy 22 covers a bit of that as well.

Now you might argue, “That’s the Old Testament. That’s so outdated and basically rubbish.” I disagree. God reinforced these statements in the end of Romans 1. Romans 1:22-32 just gives an update of sorts. Kind of a reminder. “Hey, this is still true. Pay attention.”  God’s reaction and response to the sin of the people can be summed in verses 24-27.

“Therefore God gave them over in the lusts of the hearts to impurity, so that their bodies would be dishonored among them. For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error.”  — Romans 1:24-27 NASB

God does not tolerate sin. God created the sexual relationship between a husband and wife to be holy and pure (Hebrews 13:4) and He intended it to stay that way. The unbelieving world will still try to twist and pervert God’s ways and God’s word to fit their own narrative, but God’s children should never do such a thing. We cannot change God’s ways or what His word says. So let’s preach the Bible the way it’s written. Let’s say what the Bible says, and go on God’s authority. God does not tolerate sin, and neither should we.
